I have been to Ikea five times in the past 3 weeks. It's a problem. It's not next door either, the Portland Ikea is a good 40 minutes away from my apartment. This last trip was the result of having left my debit card at the Red Robin next door the last time I went to Ikea (which was four days ago). I had to go back out there to retrieve it, ergo I had to stop in at Ikea since we had already driven all the way out there.
Confused? No? Just bored? Okay then.
The point is, my apartment is becoming increasingly Ikeaified. It's strange. I like it but I can't stop. I found this picture I saved months ago, labeled "bed." It's still perfect. I want to climb in and read a nicely designed book in it.
My mom recently sent me a link to a blog called the brass petal. She said the writing style of it reminded her of me and that i'd like it. I did. The woman that writes the blog is apparently a prop stylist, which is a completely awesome job (how do people get those *foouking* jobs!?!!!!?! ...I ask myself quietly)
This picture made me think of her with all of the perfectly placed props oh-so-casually and perfectly spread out. Proper styling makes all the difference.
P.S. Yes I just admitted I ate at Red Robin. Don't hate my friends, don't hate.
Yay! You're back! I'm sure it was a direct result of my recent plea/comment on an older post. Or was that just another example of esp/'coincidence' ?
I asked myself the same question about those *foouking* jobs ~ but I also thought if I'd known 20 (ahem 30) years ago what I wanted to do or what I loved doing, I would have set about figuring out what degree and/or experience /location I needed to be able to do it.
It seems identifying what one wants and then being willing to do what you need to do to obtain it is the hard part.

I won't hate on Red Robin. They have the best clam chowder. (It's probably just frozen from a bag, but I still love it.)
